There was a high school tradition at Kittanning High that has been continued on to Armstrong High recently. A young girl named Sydney Brison from Ford City has been fighting Leukemia since November 2009. Unfortunately, she had a relapse in August 2012 and has had to undertake additional chemotherapy. Because of this, the Armstrong High senior call will be having a “Club Penguin” themed dance that they’ve called “SydStrong”. The dance-a-thon will take place on April 22, 2016 with about 200 participants. This will be a 24 hour dance and game party. The participants will be split up into about twenty two groups with about 10 people in each group. Although it will be a “Club Penguin Walkthrough” themed dance, they don’t expect participants to dress like the Club Penguin characters and they don’t expect to have any missions during the dance. They will have a ping pong tournament and they’ll possibly hand out ice cream in an attempt to keep everyone awake deep into the night. Brison also has a brother named Alec who attends Armstrong High and will also be partaking in the dance. So, for they’ve raised $200 for Brison and expect to beat last year’s staggering $10,000 fundraiser last year for a little 5 year old boy who also has leukemia named Gabe Aguirre which was in the news as well. During 2014 they had yet another similar dance-a-thon to help support James Lindahl who is the son of one of the health teachers, young James was only 3 years old during his dance-a-thon which raised almost $7,000 for him.
